The certificate was handed over to elect by the INEC chairman Attahiru Jega for defeating the incumbent president accord to the act of inec.
Speaking after receiving the certificate, Mr. Buhari said “Change has finally come” to Nigeria. He said Nigeria’s “long night has passed”. He also said:
“I look forward to meeting with President Jonathan in the days to come, to discuss the transition from one administration to another”.
“There shall be no favouritism for any Nigerian based on gender, religion or ethnicity.”
”You shall be able to go to bed and know that you are safe, and that your constitutional rights will be respected.”
